I am drawn to landscapes, capturing and preserving the views that have been seen over the years by so many.
On location I work in pastels. I focus on that specific time of day. The time of day changes the light, the color, the atmosphere: it changes everything.
Pastels afford me the use of pure pigment. The mark each pastel makes directly from my hand to the surface is exciting.
In my studio I create with encaustic, based on my Plein Air experiences. Working with molten wax and fire has energy and spontaneity.
Whether in the studio or on site each painting is a challenge to record a moment in time.
